Here’s what several of our clients have to say about how Palouse Synergy Systems energy audits have helped them.
Tim and Laylah Sullivan live in a 1920's farmhouse east of Colfax. They write:
“Well, first, as you know, we are extremely impressed with your tenaciousness when it comes to finding leaks, checking ductwork, and the detailed report. I think the detailed report on the home is such a monumental work of achievement, that it speaks for itself, in the quality and care that you put into each job. And I like how you write it up, very low key, personable, and to the point."
"As to date, we have only done about maybe 60% (of the items on the list). Yes, yes, I know, I know, I really should get on it!!!! Costs have been minimal, but I've been using an entire tube of seven dollar caulking on each window, but then, you've been to the house. Some of the big things I just have not done, but I've been doing a little on each weekend. Even though we can’t quote energy costs just yet because we use diesel to heat and we won’t know how much we’ve used until the end of winter, the one thing we DO know already is that the house is far, far less drafty and MUCH less dusty!” |

Jan Estep lives in a modern home in Pullman that is only 10 years old. She has lived in the home since it was new and she wanted an audit just to make sure she was being as frugal as possible. Here’s what she has to say:
“I’m having a great start to 2009. Just thought I would get back to you with some comments on the energy audit you did for me in July 2008."
"You were right. The list you gave me with ideas how to save were all really easy to do and I got through most of them within 2 weeks of receiving your report (mid-August). I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to me during the audit and explain your procedures and ideas."
"As far as usage is concerned, I thought I had been doing a pretty good job in conserving energy before you came, but I have been really pleased with the results. In comparing the last 5 months of 2008 with the last 5 months of 2007, my bills are about 25% lower on average each month. Every single month's bill has been lower. This is true even in extreme months like December 2008 when I thought all that arctic air was going to freeze us back to the ice-age."
"Everybody I have talked to about what you did has been really interested. Hope you are doing well!" |

Leonard and Nancy Van Dyke live in an older farmhouse near Genessee. Leonard works at Pullman Building Supply and had heard of Energy Audits and wanted to see what one could do to help him get his energy bills under control and give him a plan to work on his home. Leonard writes:
"Hi Mike -
Having you do an energy audit for us has been one of the best decisions we've ever made concerning our home. We knew our old 1932 farmhouse had serious issues with heat loss but had no idea where to begin addressing those issues or the best plan of attack. Your energy audit thoroughly pin pointed each problem area giving us specifically listed things to do to clear up our energy loss issues. Your detailed report gives us a check list that we can accomplish as our budget allows. Even though we have only made inroads to approximately 1/3 of the projects on the list of "to do's" our last 4 electric bills have been $71, $73, $73, and $82. This time last year for the same period our electric bills were averaging $175 per month. It is actually almost fun to do the projects that you recommend when we can see dramatic results such as this."
"It is my sincere advice that everyone needs an energy audit, preferably done by you, Mike. You are very thorough, informative, and the report that you generate from your tests gives us, the homeowner, a plan to dramatically make a difference in our energy bills."
"We are extremely grateful that you are providing this service, Mike, and it has been one of our best investments to have you audit our home. I will recommend you every chance I get." |

Linda and Brad Cook write from Colfax:
"Dear Mike,
I heard your business mentioned on NPR the other day - plus I had been thinking about e-mailing and giving you an update. So all the signs aligned and here goes."
"We’re working down the list you left and we hit probably half of all the little blue tabs you left stuck to problem areas. The biggest jobs were blowing in the insulation on the north and west walls and then wrapping with Tyvek before putting the siding back up; and getting in the new windows in the bay windows in the dining room and the bedroom. You know all of the other things we’ve had to do…A 105 year old farm house needs lots of things done."
"We have been using primarily the wood stove for heat; during the coldest part of December we were also using the baseboards but they seemed to come on only rarely. The most noticeable difference we’ve seen from last March when we moved in, I would say, has been that when the wind blows its hardest it no longer finds its way in to us! There were probably 4 or 5 days in December when it blew pretty much nonstop, and we were still cozy."
"As you know, my parents moved a new modular onto the property and that electricity is on our meter as well. Our 2400 square foot farmhouse and the new modular had a combined December electricity bill of $187! Not too bad!" |

Ernie Motteram of Palouse has this to say:
"Mike,
The Energy Audit done by Palouse Synergy Systems in February of 2008 was a real eye-opener. Even with a relatively “well built” brick ranch style house, it was valuable to identify the areas that could be fixed and make a 1980’s electric more energy efficient."
"The first realization was how very different the audit findings were from my perceptions. I had been listening to the TV chatter and was thinking windows, etc. It was impressive to identify how much was being lost through ceiling light cans, wall sockets, etc. There were several large leaks from the fireplace surround that had been making the family living space “drafty” for years and were also fairly easy to fix once they were identified. They have made the living area much more comfortable and the added pleasure of knowing one actually fixed a problem is comforting."
"We worked several of the problems you identified into a modernization project for the kitchen and have seen a big difference."
